History

In 1971, a very special woman in the life of the National Association of Insurance Women saw the need to start a local chapter of this organization. The city was growing, and traveling was becoming a serious problem for the working professional woman.

It was a dream that our "Nicole Heidler" started with seven women invited to her home for coffee to discuss the issue and her idea. These seven women certainly agreed that a local chapter was needed in order for this organization to grow and expand into areas that were not reached before.

Thus, the Insurance Women of South Dade was formed and started with such enthusiasm far beyond our expectations.

It has blossomed and has been awarded just about every award given in the State and National Conventions.

The 25th year installation was held at the Rusty Pelican in Miami. We were honored by having every living past President, but one, return to Miami for this momentous occasion. 125 people attended this event; and enjoyed the Grandeur evening that only the Insurance Women can produce.

There are many organizations in this country, but ONLY this one stood the stress and pressure that was bestowed upon us in August of 1992, when Andrew paid a visit. Help and support came from all over the country. Retired insurance women came from other cities to help those of us locally in need. Moments like this, make our motto LOYALTY, EDUCATION and FELLOWSHIP, not only written creed, but a reality.

Although names change, location of meeting places change, our goals ALWAYS remain the same; and that is to be sure that our members are the best EDUCATED professionals in the area. Our Loyalty to each other during severe crisis never waivers, and the FELLOWSHIP we share will be the most precious ones of our lives.

This local chapter that was the dream of seven women have taken us all to the epitome of our profession.
